Benriach
honours the historic craft of malting
barley with the release of the Third
Edition of Benriach Malting season.
Benriach
Distillery has revealed its third annual
release of Malting Season - an indulgent
and velvety single malt possessing
extraordinary depth and character. This
exquisite whisky is meticulously
fashioned, utilising exclusively malted
barley from the distillery's historic
floor maltings.
Once a year, Benriach stands as one of a
mere eight distilleries in Scotland
upholding this age-old tradition, a
practice that demands the skilled touch
of Benriach's devoted team of artisans.
The Third Iteration of Malting Season is
meticulously crafted from concerto
barley, thoughtfully selected by the
expertise of Master Blender Dr. Rachel
Barrie. The spirit, nurtured through
floor malting, embarks on a gradual
maturation journey within virgin oak and
first-fill bourbon casks, thereby
acquiring a resplendent golden hue
directly influenced by the casks'
natural characteristics.
Stewart Buchanan, Global Brand
Ambassador at Benriach, said: "Every
year during ‘Maltings Season’ our team
hand malt select barley onsite. This
historic process pays tribute to our
founder - John Duff - and the slow craft
of his historic maltings which we
continue to this day in the pursuit of
exceptional flavour.
"Each new addition of Malting Season
uses carefully chosen barley types and
individual bottling strengths, making
each annual edition one of a kind in its
own right.
"Malting Season Third Edition has malt
sweetness on the nose with wild
bergamot, pear and meadowsweet honey.
The palate leads to a burst of
clementine, floral honey and gentle
barley spice, followed by flavours of
apricot, malted almond and traces of
wild cherry."
Benriach Malting Season Third Edition
has a RRP of £110 and will be from specialist online whisky
