Benbecula
Distillery unveils 2026 private cask
offering.

Benbecula
Distillery has unveiled its 2026 private
cask offering, giving a limited number
of whisky enthusiasts the opportunity to
acquire a cask of its distinctive
Hebridean spirit while becoming part of
the journey of one of Scotland's most
closely watched emerging distilleries.
Founded in 2024 by local crofter and
entrepreneur Angus MacMillan, the
distillery draws its identity from the
Outer Hebrides, with a production
philosophy rooted in the islands'
landscape and agricultural heritage. Its
spirit is crafted using an inclusion of
seaweed-enriched Bere barley grown on
MacMillan's croft and malted with
traditional heather peat, contributing
to a new make spirit defined by
Hebridean smoke, blackcurrant, floral
notes and a distinctive coastal
character.
The 2026 private cask collection has
been curated by renowned Master
Distiller Brendan McCarron and comprises
Manzanilla, Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso
hogsheads, alongside second-fill Bourbon
barrels. Each cask has been selected to
complement and develop the distillery's
characterful spirit throughout
maturation while showcasing different
expressions of Benbecula's developing
single malt.
Angus MacMillan, Founder and Managing
Director of Benbecula Distillery, said:
"Owning a cask at Benbecula is about
much more than the whisky in the
warehouse. It is a connection to the
distillery, the people making this
whisky, and the islands themselves.
"Our ambition is to create one of the
most distinctive and sought-after
contemporary single malts. Benbecula has
the character, provenance and the people
to become a significant name in the
industry - this offering gives the
exclusive opportunity to become a part
of that journey."
Brendan McCarron, Master Distiller at
Benbecula Distillery, added: "Benbecula's
spirit has a character that is
unmistakably its own. Each cask in this
offering has been selected to build on
that character rather than overwhelm it,
giving owners four distinct and exciting
paths through maturation.”
Ownership also includes membership of
the Benbecula Comunn, a community
established to maintain a meaningful
relationship between cask owners, the
distillery and the islands throughout
the ownership journey and beyond.
Members receive seven years of insured
cask storage, a bottle from Benbecula's
inaugural release, lifetime access to
the distillery, invitations to private
events, priority access to selected
future releases and permanent
recognition on the distillery's Cask
Owner Wall.
The 2026 programme will be led by Angus
MacMillan and Head of Private Clients
David Ferguson. Those interested in
