This winter, Auchentoshan – THE triple distilled single malt whisky from Glasgow – has launched two limited edition expressions for the single malt enthusiast: the Auchentoshan 1977 and Auchentoshan 1998. These two smooth and stylish authentic single malts have been matured in the finest European Oak Oloroso and Fino Sherry casks and are priced at £370 and £44.99 respectively. Presented beautifully in luxury royal blue boxes – the packaging provides real standout from the core range and increases the collectability of these fine whiskies.

As Scotland’s only triple distilled single malt, dating back to 1823, Auchentoshan is renowned for its smooth and delicate flavour. Its modern font, label and taste make it approachable to younger emerging whisky drinkers as well single malt evangelists.

Auchentoshan 1977 Sherry Cask Matured

Matured in the finest European Oak Olorosso Sherry casks for thirty-two long years, this cask-strength 49% ABV, non-chill filtered limited release is truly exceptional. With only 240 bottles in existence worldwide and priced at £370, this rare vintage from 1977 is the perfect gift for the cult whisky aficionado.

To display this vintage malt at its best, the luxury blue outer carton is gilded with a soft suede effect interior and the bottle is adorned with a brushed pewter label, all lending a tactile and premium quality to the whisky.

Producer's Tasting Notes:

Light bronze in colour, this extremely complex and smooth, medium-bodied lowland malt displays unusually subtle oaky notes despite its lengthy maturation. Indulging the palate with sweet honeycomb and notes of mulled pear, these flavours are complimented by a satisfying, soft and lingering woodiness on the finish. On the nose is beeswax, wooden polished floorboards, aged leather, cigar humidors and a pleasant cooling menthol.

Auchentoshan 1998 Sherry Cask Matured

This 1998 expression was matured in Fino Sherry casks which is rarely used for maturation, and bottled at cask strength 54.6% ABV and non-chill filtered to deliver exceptional flavour and complexity. This medium-bodied lowland single malt is priced affordably at £44.99 per bottle, with 6,000 released globally.

Producer's Tasting Notes:

Deep copper in appearance. The zesty Fino Sherry characteristics are complimented by the ever present smoothness of Auchentoshan, truly a match made in heaven.

This limited edition sherry matured release oozes sweet and creamy aromas at first, which then give way to the signature citrus characteristic of Auchentoshan when savoured. The finish leaves just a hint of green apple and blossom. On the nose is butterscotch, honey, preserved orange peel and toasted almonds.
