Ardgowan Appoint Sales and Marketing Director

With the construction the new net zero designed Ardgowan Distillery now underway, the distillery has now appointed a new Sales and Marketing Director.

In whisky business news, Ardgowan Distillery, which is currently under construction in Inverclyde, is planning for the future with their latest appointment, the distillery has has named a new Sales and Marketing Director as it kicks off the development of its impressive £20 million state-of-the-art 'cathedral of whisky'.

Taking on the role is David Keir, who boasts over 25 years of expertise in cultivating top-tier whisky brands such as Bruichladdich and The GlenDronach, along with his role as a Founding Director at The GlenAllachie Distillers Company. His extensive insights and experience within the Scotch whisky sector will be invaluable for the forthcoming net-zero designed distillery, slated to commence operations in 2024.

Speaking on his appointment, David commented: "With construction now underway, it is great to be joining the company at such an integral stage of the project.

"As we wait for Ardgowan Single Malt to come of age I look forward to working with the team and developing our existing multi-award winning brands; Clydebuilt & Inverdarach. Growing Ardgowan Distilleryís existing network of distributors across select global markets will be apriority, with positive discussions already underway with potential partners in the USA, Asia and Europe.

"Our UK home market is also very important. Specialist retailers have had a challenging time of late and the recent duty increase has added to this. However they perform a crucial role for emerging brands like Ardgowan Distillery and for discerning consumers who like to seek out something a little different. Iíll be focused on building a strong route to market with these retailers, supporting them wherever we can."

David joins a seasoned group supporting the distillery, which includes Stuart Macpherson, the former Macallan master of wood, and Max McFarlane, a veteran whisky maker with over 40 years in the industry, previously leading at Edrington.

Simultaneously, Ardgowan Distillery has expanded its sales team with the addition of Claire Stewart, previously from Chivas Brothers, taking on the role of Customer Service and Production Manager.

Ardgowan Distillery Chief Executive, Martin McAdam, added: "David comes to us with a fantastic background, bolstering everything we do. Having a portfolio of experience as extensive and successful as Davidís, we look forward to utilising his skills to help position Ardgowan at the forefront of the Scotch whisky industry."

Ardgowan Distillery is set to pioneer a carbon-neutral approach by integrating advanced technologies and collaborating with innovative technology developers.

Teaming up with Heriot Watt University and engineers Briggs of Burton, the distillery is actively working on a pioneering technology to capture all CO2 emissions during its fermentation process and convert them into green biomethaneóa groundbreaking method yet to be deployed in a Scottish whisky distillery.

With plans to generate nearly 50 employment opportunities for the local community, Ardgowan aims to become a significant contributor and, upon its completion, it will boast the capability to produce up to one million litres of premium whisky annually.
