Spotlight on
Aldi's regional Glen Marnoch Scotch
single malt whisky range for World
Whisky Day. Yes they are youthful expressions but each whisky in
the range delivers plenty of character,
flavour and regional personality and are
undoubtedly great value for money at
£18.49 a bottle.

To mark World Whisky Day, Aldi Scotland
is shining a spotlight on its
award-winning Glen Marnoch single malt
range — a collection that continues to
prove that quality Scotch whisky does
not have to come with a premium price
tag.
Priced at just £18.49 per bottle, the
Glen Marnoch range offers whisky
drinkers an affordable way to explore
some of Scotland’s best-known whisky
regions, from the smoky intensity of
Islay to the sweeter, softer character
of Speyside and the balanced richness of
the Highlands. For those looking to
celebrate World Whisky Day without
stretching their budget, the range
stands out as one of the strongest
value-for-money options currently
available in supermarkets.
First introduced in 2011, Glen Marnoch
has gone on to become Aldi’s most
awarded whisky collection, securing more
than 20 industry accolades over the
years. Most recently, the Speyside
expression picked up a Bronze medal at
the World Whiskies Awards 2026, further
cementing the reputation the range has
built among both casual drinkers and
whisky enthusiasts.
Each whisky in the Specially Selected
Glen Marnoch collection is bottled at
40% ABV and crafted to reflect the
distinctive style of its region. The
Speyside expression is light,
approachable and smooth, with sweet
vanilla, soft malt and oak influence
complemented by dried fruit notes and a
gentle touch of cinnamon on the finish.
Meanwhile, the Islay bottling delivers a
much smokier profile, offering bold peat
smoke balanced by underlying sweetness
and a nutty depth. It has become a
particularly popular choice among
budget-conscious whisky fans seeking an
accessible introduction to peated malts.
While it may not rival the complexity of
significantly more expensive Islay
whiskies, its smoky character and
approachable price have earned it praise
as an excellent everyday dram and a
worthwhile addition to any collection.
The Highland expression rounds out the
range with a richer, softer style.
Matured in white oak casks for a minimum
of three years, it brings together
warming spice, dried fruit and gentle
oak notes in a smooth and easy-drinking
whisky.
Part of the appeal of the Glen Marnoch
range lies in its ability to offer
regional Scotch whisky styles at a
fraction of the cost typically
associated with single malts. Although
the whiskies are sourced from
undisclosed Scottish distilleries, the
quality-to-price ratio has consistently
impressed both reviewers and award
judges alike.
Among the three expressions, the Islay
release is widely regarded as the
standout, delivering remarkable
character and smoky depth for under £20.
The Speyside and Highland variants offer
a more approachable and mellow drinking
experience, making the range suitable
for newcomers and seasoned whisky
drinkers alike.
Alan Leslie, Buying Director at Aldi
Scotland, said: "The Glen Marnoch range
reflects Aldi’s commitment to delivering
exceptional Scotch whisky that champions
both quality and provenance. With
recognition across some of the
industry’s most respected awards, each
expression offers a distinctive taste of
Scotland’s whisky regions, making it an
ideal choice for World Whisky Day and
beyond."
While the three Glen Marnoch whiskies
are youthful expressions,
each delivers plenty of character,
flavour and regional personality and are
undoubtedly good value for money Scotch
single malt whiskies, certainly a step
up from the standard blends for not much
more cost. You will find
Aldi's Specially Selected Glen Marnoch
whiskies available across all 113 stores
in Scotland.
