Aberfeldy 16 year old review.
John Dewar's & Sons has revealed the latest addition to its Aberfeldy core range of whiskies, the Aberfeldy 16 year old. The new whisky has been finished in Oloroso sherry casks and bottled at 40% ABV.
The new Aberfeldy 16 joins the existing
Aberfeldy portfolio of single malts. Aberfeldy describe it as rewardingly viscous and sweet; full of fresh fruit and buttery notes. It has an RRP of £62.00 although it is currently available at £50.95 over at
The Whisky Exchange.
The new expression will be available in 11 markets around the world: Belgium, Canada, Germany, France, Japan, Lebanon, Netherlands, Russia, Sweden, Taiwan and the UK.
William
Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Nose: Mild honey, tangerine, touch of cloves, a little sweet sherry, a touch of oak.
Taste:
Zesty orange laced with oak spice and
honey, touch of vanilla, a little nutty,
some dark chocolate trying to break
through.
Finish: Medium length, slightly drying oak spice, the
zesty orange becomes slightly bitter,
peppery, a little nuttiness, dark
chocolate.
Comment: The Aberfeldy 16 very much reminds me of the travel retail exclusive Aberfeldy 18 year old and just as good. A medium sherry rich Highland region dram that is sure to please.
