The Aberfeldy distillery was established
by John Dewar, who was the son of a
crofter. He was born just two miles east
of Aberfeldy. As a young man John spent
a spell working in the wine and spirit
trade in Perth and in 1846 he started
his own business. He was one of the
first to produce a blended Scotch
Whisky.
On John Dewars death in
1880 his two sons Alexander and Tommy
took over the business. It was Tommy who
made the name of Dewar known worldwide.
By 1894 Tommy had established Dewars in
no fewer than 26 countries. He had built
a new headquarters next to the railway
station in Perth from which a private
siding led to their premises.
In 1896 the
Aberfeldy distillery was also built next
to the railway, providing a door to door
link. The choice of site was also
determined by the supply of water from
the Pitilie Burn and the locally grown
barley.
The distillery is now
home to Dewar's World of Whisky, where
you can take a tour of the distillery
and learn about the history of John
Dewar & Sons Ltd.
More recently the Aberfeldy 12 Year Old
Highland malt has been awarded the Gold
Medal and Best in Class at the
industry’s premier tasting event, the
International Wine and Spirits
Competition in London. The panel of
judges conducted a professional blind
tasting, and concluded that the
Aberfeldy 12 Year Old was an outstanding
whisky, which set the standard for its
classification.

 Aberfeldy 12 Year
Old is a full bodied single malt whisky,
with fruity notes of heather-honey,
pineapple, toasted cereal and a dry,
slightly spicy finish.
Aberfeldy
25 Year Old Single Malt Whisky this deep
golden whisky has a pleasing heathery
honey aroma and a full flavour with
touches of Seville oranges, which linger
on the tongue.
