Review of the
Glenglassaugh Port Wood Finish.
 The
Glenglassaugh Port Wood Finish is one of four new wood finish
whiskies recently released by the
highland distillery.
Matured initially in first-fill American
oak casks it was then finished for up to
two years in Port Wood casks
selected by Glenglassaugh Whisky Maker,
Rachel Barrie.
Non chill-filtered and natural colour
this Port Wood Finish was bottled at 46%
ABV and is currently available from specialist whisky shops such as
Master of
Malt

Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Nose:
Creamy vanilla toffee,
a gentle touch of
ripe raisins and just a little hint of gingery spice.
Taste:
Deliciously fresh and juicy, a sweet raisiny
fruitiness, zesty orange and some cherry
brandy. A very gentle touch of vanilla
and oak spice hiding in the background
Finish:
The fresh fruitiness morphs to stewed
plum before slowly fading into a
lingering gentle dry and a little nutty
oakiness.
Comment:
A delicious, enjoyable, juicy port
finished whisky, likely around 7ish years
old. The fruit has more to say
than the oak but this works well, it is
a lovely balance of grape and oak.
