Review of the
Glenglassaugh Peated Port Wood Finish.
The
Glenglassaugh Peated Port Wood Finish is one of four new wood finish
whiskies recently released by the
highland distillery.
Matured initially in first-fill American
oak casks the peated whisky was then finished for up to
two years in Port Wood casks
selected by Glenglassaugh Whisky Maker,
Rachel Barrie.
Non chill-filtered and natural colour
this Peated Port Wood Finish was bottled at 46%
ABV and is currently available from specialist whisky shops such as

Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Nose:
Ripe raisins infused with subtle sweet
smoke, a little orange, cinnamon,
vanilla and a delicate touch of pepper.
Taste:
The deliciously juicy sweet peat smoke
infused raisins from the nose are joined
by stewed plums, a little honey, a touch
of pepper.
Finish:
The lovely subtle sweet peat smoke
infused fruit fades leaving some lingering
pepper and mildly drying oak.
Comment:
Peat and Port can make for a very
enjoyable dram when the balance is right
and I would say they have got the length of the port
finish for this young peated Glenglassaugh
spot on, the balance of peat smoke
and grape has made for a delicious dram.
If I had to guess a phenol PPM content
for this I would guess around 8-10 PPM,
it is there from nose to finish but
never over whelmed by the port but very
much complimented by it. A very welcome,
and very enjoyable
new addition from Glenglassaugh.

87/100
