Introducing
the new single malts from
Aultmore, the 12, 21 and 25
year old.

Aultmore has long been one of the
main components of Dewar's blended
whisky and in 1998 the distillery was
acquired by Bacardi, the parent company
of John Dewar & Sons. Since being taken
over by John Dewar & Sons there hasn't
been any indication of a Aultmore single
malt being released, that was until the
end of last year when John Dewar & Sons
launched
The
Last Great Malts of Scotland,
which is a range of new expressions,
including some never before released single malts
from each of John Dewar & Sons five malt whisky distilleries -
Aberfeldy, Aultmore, Craigellachie, The
Deveron and Royal Brackla.
Aultmore has been producing whisky since
1897 yet it has remained an obscure
distillery to single malt whisky
drinkers, it has only ever really been
available as a limited edition bottling
mainly from independent bottlers. One of only 12 Scotch single
malts rated a Top Class whisky by blenders,
it has always been a dram sought
after by blenders for its gentle grassy notes.
More often than not this Top Class
rating is a measure of just how good a
single malt is. Now, at last, malt
whisky fans around world will be able to
taste a range of Aultmore single malts
bottled by the distillery and decide for
themselves whether they think Aultmore
single malt whisky is Top Class.
The Craigellachie single malt whisky
range was the first new range to be
launched under "The Last Great Malts of
Scotland" title which for those that
missed it I reviewed
HERE last year
November.
The new Aultmore
range closely followed at the end of
last year, the new range will initially
be three single malts, the
Aultmore 12 Year Old and a
Aultmore 25 Year Old
in
limited quantities, there is also a
travel retail exclusive
Aultmore 21 Year Old available. I
understand that a Aultmore 30
year old and 35 year old will follow
later this year.
The Aultmore distillery stands in a
strange landscape in a remote area of
the Speyside region, often obscured from
view by the thick mists which arise from
the mysterious local terrain called the Foggie
Moss, an area that was once popular with
illicit distillers. Aultmore has always been a very rarely seen Speyside malt
whisky, known
locally as "a nip of the Buckie
Road" the distillery draws it water from
the misty, mysterious springs of the Foggie
Moss which conceals it water source and
filters it through gorse and heather.
You will be pleased to hear that all the
whiskies in the new Aultmore whisky
range are presented in their natural
unadulterated form, non-chill filtered,
no added caramel colouring and they all
carry a clear age statement.
The new Aultmore 12 year old, both
the 21 year old in travel retail and a
25 year old in limited quantities will
be available from this month. Released
initially in 10 markets around the world
including Canada, France, Germany,
Japan, Russia, Sweden, Taiwan United
Kingdom, United States and travel
retail.
The new Aultmore 12 and
25 year old are now available from
The Whisky Exchange
who offer worldwide delivery to most
countries in the world.
