Aultmore 12 Year Old Review
The
entry level bottling in the new
Aultmore single malt whisky range
is the Aultmore 12 year old, like
all the bottlings in the range it is
presented in its natural unadulterated
form, bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill
filtered, no added caramel colouring and
it carries a clear age statement, just
as we like it.
William
Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Nose: Fresh, gentle spiced apple
and pear, floral, a little candied
sweetness.
Taste: Light and smooth, some sweet vanilla icing sugar
and a little candied lemon which is
balanced with some lovely gentle mossy
grassy notes. Some pear, stewed banana and
a little oak spice.
Finish: Mildly drying, mildly sweet oak spice slowly fades
leaving a touch of lemon and Aultmore's
signature grassy note.
Comment:
A lovely balance between the sweet
vanilla, fruit and Aultmore's signature
grassy notes. Gets a little more drier
and grassier on the palate with each
mouthful but this is kept in check by
the sweet vanilla and fruit.
A great new easy to drink entry level
dram in the new Aultmore single malt
whisky range.
SMW Score
86/100
