Aultmore 25 Year Old Review

Sitting at the top of the new Aultmore whisky range is the Aultmore 25 year old. I understand that a Aultmore 30 year old and 35 year old will follow later this year but for the time being the 25 is the top malt in the range.

The whisky will only be available in limited quantities and like all the bottlings in the Aultmore whisky range it is presented in its natural unadulterated form, bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered, no added caramel colouring it draws its colour naturally from the re-fill hogsheads casks it slowly matured in for 25 years, just as we like it.

William Morrison's Tasting Notes:

Nose: A lovely rich nose of toffee, baked apple, lemon, vanilla a just a touch of Aultmore's signature grassy note in the background.

Taste:  Rich, medium to full bodied with a lovely balance of orange, candied lemon, a little stewed banana, sweet vanilla coated in delicious mature oak.

Finish: The rich fruit continues long into the finish accompanied by the mature sweet oak.

Comment: Richer and clearly more mature than the 21 year old and equal in quality to its superb slightly younger sibling. If you like sweet malty rich mature Speyside whiskies you will love this. A lovely very long delicious finish.

No sign of the whisky being overtaken by the wood due to the years in the cask. I would bet the planned Aultmore 30 year old and 35 year old which are due for release later this year will be very good also.

SMW Score 93/100

The Aultmore 25 year old is now available from
The Whisky Exchange priced £296
