Ok guys, here's another one for you
Hilton Hotel DUNKELD have commissioned Tullibardine with a limited edition exclusive to 25 bottles only of 1993 Pedro Ximenez finish in a "Homecoming Scotland 2009" satin-lined box
Single reserved cask for Hilton Dunkeld Hotel & Country Club
See http://www.miniaturecollectives.co.uk/clients.html
Bottle #1 reserved not to be sold
All others completely sold out (24 only)
What do you think to the value?
Thanks

Hi David
A standard 1993 Tullibardine sherry finish is probably worth around £40 - £45 so I would think this special bottling would be worth around £100 but i would think it will gain value as time goes by, certainly worth holding onto.
Out of interest did you ever get a taste of any of it, if so, is it any good?

Hi Mac
I did get to taste it at the Hilton Dunkeld. I personally like it very much, smooth and sweet sherry finish and nicely rounded. Not at all sharp or even a hint of bitterness, just warmth and mouthfulls of generous aftertaste. Lovely
I bought 3 boxed bottles and I'm certainly hoping for a return
There we only 25 bottles produced from the single cask for the HIlton
Bottle #1 will never be sold - to be kept at the hotel
Bottle #2 went for sealed bids over £750 (it did sell)
Bottle #3 was auctioned off starting off at £400 (it sold too)
I have 3 bottles #17, #20 & #21 and I'm looking for good homes for at least 2 (i might keep one for myself)
Fingers crossed eh? |

You did well to get 3 bottles then.... so what price are you thinking of letting the 2 bottles go for ? |

I am quite surprised at the amount the first few bottles fetched i wouldnt have guestimated that much, shows you how wrong i can be . You mention sealed bids and being auctioned off, out of interest, was the auction for charity.

Hi Mac & Sorren
To be honest I don't know if the auctions were for charity or for whatever
The person to ask would be Glen Gilson (beverage manager) at the Dunkeld Hilton
I guess I was lucky/greedy as I happened to be staying at the hotel last year when the whisky became available. There were only 6 bottles left and I took the decision to buy
3 bottles as the opportunity to purchase such a distinguished and limited edition was to good to pass by, and I had the chance to taste it too! (Plenty of it actually)
The value is certainly in the limited edition HILTON Homecoming Scotland 2009 presentation as I'm told that there has never been such a small bottling.
I'd be happy to sell 2 bottles and I'd like to get £200 each + any carriage charges (overseas carriage isn't cheap)
I'd keep the last one as it would only appreciate in value - I'm told whisky is a good investment so I'll hang on to one unless I get a good offer (we all have a price )

With the sealed bidding and the amounts it fetched in the auction it does seem to me like they were auctioned for a good cause. All the best with trying to sell your bottles, personally i am terrible at trying to hold onto whisky that may make me some money especially when i know it is a decent whisky, i usually end up opening it.
