Is there an industry standard that if a particular expression is limited to X number of bottles then the distiller will indicate the bottle number on the label? Another way to ask this: "What is the industry threshold number for NOT numbering the bottles of a specific bottle limitation?
The Rosebank website proclaims that the Rosebank 30 - Release 1 is limited to 4350 70cl bottles. The website is silent on the number of Rosebank 30 - Release 1 75cl bottles that are to be released. My first intuition was that the 4350 number includes both bottle sizes. I am now having some doubts about that in light of the fact that I have seen no less than 6 bottles of the 75cl version within a 10 mile radius in the last two weeks.
NOTE: I did send Rosebank an email inquiry on the bottle count. I have not received a response from Rosebank at the time of posting this thread.
There is no industry standard, sometimes the bottler will disclose bottle numbers on the label for limited release expressions and sometimes they wont. I dont like when they announce a certain number of bottles in a release and dont put that number on the bottle.
You’d think it’d be in their interest to do so, but not always. A collector would surely be happy to part with a little more cash if the bottle number is on the label.
