Hi William

I see you have posted in the Whisky News that Laddie have installed yet another still during recent distillery renovations, this one given the name Ugly Betty. Things must be going well over at Bruichladdich, good to see an independent expanding even if it is with the ugliest still in Scotland. Laughing

They say looks are only skin deep - it is what is in the inside that counts. Laughing

yea looks are only as deep as the copper. what will soon be distilled inside will be what counts. a little info on it for you - It is a "Lomond still', rescued from the Inverleven distillery demolished in 2004 (the stills for the future Port Charlotte distillery also come from it).

Bruichladdich isnt the only distillery on islay with a new installation, ardbeg has had 3 new bottlings vats installed in the old tractor shed. part of the roof had to be removed for the vats to be installed, and they had to be lowered into place with some precision driving from the heavy lifting crane operator with only 50mm of clearance to work with.

There does appear to be an ever increasing worldwide demand for the Islay style whiskies.

The Lomond still seems to fit in well with Bruichladdichs business model - producing limited amounts of different style whiskies.
