This is pretty good and the description of 'mellow' really suits this one, it will not set anyone's world alight if you are looking for masses of complexity but whisky like this certainly has it's place.
i think 46% rather than 43% would be ideal here.
This whisky does exactly what it says on the tin, the label says only casks displaying a fruity floral characteristic are used, which is where i put it, pretty good stuff, typical of a lighter Speyside dram.
Nose
83
This is a soft floral nose mixed with white fruits and honey.
There is a dry grassy note mixed with biscuits.
Fruit wise there is lemon, apricot and a hint of peach.
There is plenty there but the sum of the parts is not that expressive.
Taste
86
The initial mouthfeel is pretty good, and there is a nice spice/pepper note but the flavours are held back a bit, stunted if you will?
Is it stunted or is it just mellow?
As you go on the fruit is just a soft mish mash of various white fruits and yellow fruits and it is really nice and the spice is in the background.
Finish
85
The spice and fruit fade gracefully. _________________ Pour me a glass please. |
