Clynelish H2H tasted in this order:-
14 year 43% Flora & Fauna OB 82/80/82
14 year 46% OB 86/70/72
Distillery Only 2019 48% OB 88/87/86
Distillery Only 2008 57.3% OB 86/84/83
Clynelish Select Reserve 2014 54.9% OB 86/86/87
Clynelish Select Reserve 2015 54.9% OB 87/88/88
Clynelish 1990 27 year 49.5% cask 13155 Ian Macleod Dun Bheagan 90/88/90
Clynelish 1996 18 year 54.9% Hunter Laing Platinum Selection 90/91/90
The first two OB were disappointing, the 46% 14 year was verging on rubbish, certainly not a patch on how I remember. The next four OB were good and final two IB were excellent.
Only made brief tasting notes, if anyone wants them I can update the post no problem. _________________ Pour me a glass please. |

I wouldn't mind seeing your taste notes for the last two which you mentioned were excellent.
Cheers,

Here you go Murray, apologies, they are only brief tasting notes.
Clynelish 1990 27 year 49.5% cask 13155 Ian Macleod Dun Bheagan 90/88/90
Nice nose, lots of flavours coming out, ginger , a little peat, lots of other spices then a orange marmalade.
The palate, not that sweet and very spicy with the ginger, peat, orange and a little pepper combining nicely.
With water, some sweetness has been released which really adds to the profile.
The finish is long, spicy with some nice orange notes.
This is a classy Clynelish
Clynelish 1996 18 year 54.9% Hunter Laing Platinum Selection 90/91/90
The nose is pretty decent , almost smells like a caol ila just not as much peat.
The pepper and peat spice mix really well allowing the white fruits to shine.
The fruit which is like lemon mixed with cream & pastry, top quality.
Water is not needed because the balance is so good but if you do add water, the nose has more going on and on the palate the sweetness and the fruit has increased.
The finish is long and juicy, excellent stuff. _________________ Pour me a glass please. |

I appreciate your notes. Thanks. I do enjoy some offerings from this distillery. I currently have an OB opened, Clynelish The Distiller's Edition 17 year. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."
