Prices for Laga 16 have been stubbornly high for a few months - around £65 on most online shops rather than £50. I’d heard a rumour that the American market had gone mad for Lagavulin and therefore most of the stock was pointing in that direction increasing the price here? _________________ Whisky is a form of art.

If you think it's expensive in the UK, it's the equivalent of 92 pounds in Canada or $154.95 Canadian dollars a bottle. Also, on our Ontario, Canada LCBO website (the only place you can buy whisky in Ontario), they list the ABV of Lagavulin now as 42.9% which is either a print error or it has dropped a tad in ABV. Apparently there are only 218 bottles left for the whole Province of 15 million people. Go figure....Sounds like a shortage. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

It is even out of stock in Diageo's own online whisky shop malts.com so i would say they may have a problem meeting demand. In recent years they have released a few younger expresion such as a 8 year old anniversary bottling and a Game of Thrones 9 year old, the popularity of these bottlings may have impacted maturing stock levels for the 16 year old especially if it has had a surge in popularity. |

That is seriously expensive in Canada!! How much of that will be duties and taxes?
I hadn’t even noticed it had sold out on malts.com… it is most definitely a shortage. _________________ Whisky is a form of art.

Here in Canada, the whisky stores are all owned by the Government. The tax rate that applies to the retail price of the spirits is 61.5 per cent of the retail price of the spirits. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

Hi Crane. here in Ontario Canada, they sell at the LCBO, government run shops :
Lagavulin 8 Year Old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky,
Lagavulin 12 Year Old,
Lagavulin Offerman Edition and
Lagavulin Distillers Edition
And they are all pricey here. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."
