Is it just me?
I tried to purchase a bottle of the Ardbeg scorch when they announced its sale. Was getting frozen out of their site or could not logon. When I tried (on 3 occasions) this year to speak to someone at Ardbeg I get the same character on the phone who is as much help as chocolate teapot.
Followed by a "Sorry we are sold out...it is very popular"
Ok... putting aside their lack of customer service.... why is their 20 bottles of the stuff up at auction as we speak? All individual Ardbeg fans who decided to sell it on?? Or is the distillery selling it direct to auction??

| I'm not sure if this one went to retailers but I have previously posted that I have good evidence that some retailers put their allocation to auction rather than put it on the shelf. |

| Its is worse there are 76 bottles on there. I complained to Ardbeg but they said they cant stop individuals trying to turn a profit!!! 76 *... that is not individuals. |

seems to be a sign of times buy the latest bottle then send it to auction asap
i wonder if the same bottle gets sold at auction then gets put in the next auction buy the winning bidder
as you can see people are selling puppies for lots of money seems to be a whats happening |

I'm pretty sure some of the bottles that I have put to auction re-appear at a later date. No issue with that. In fact they don't often make any more than I achieved. |

It is individuals... there are - at least - thousands of bottles sold. So for tens to be at auction to try to make a quick £1-200ish pounds makes perfect sense.
Committee Releases only go to 'Embassies' rather than any old retailer and I don't think they'd punt to auction direct. I'm making the (possibly naive) assumption that Ardbeg would actually do some form of checking that Embassies actually sell their allocation. _________________ Inverness Whisky
