I see on Diageos Malts website they have announced the the 2nd batch of the Diageo Managers Choice range has been released. This is what they are:
Blair Athol £200
Cragganmore £250
Dalwhinnie £250
Dufftown £200
Glen Spey £200
Strathmill £200
Talisker £300
Strangely the site doesnt appear to tell you the age of any of the new releases unless i am not looking in the correct place.

I think Diageo took some stick for the price of the first batch of the Managers Choice which was all of quite a young age considering the £200 - £300 price tag. So perhaps they are withholding the age of the second release.

I had a look on diageos site, i cant see the age of the new managers choice anywhere either. Although there is a video "Does age make a difference?" which has a line up of diageo distillery managers telling you age is not that important. All that they say in the video is true and i wouldnt disagree with any of them. Age doesnt always mean better whisky but young whisky should not be this expensive.

Hi
I had posted the press release and tasting notes for the Managers Choice 2nd release in the Whisky News section.
Press Release:
www.scotchmaltwhisky.co.uk/themanagerschoice2.htm
Tasting Notes:
www.scotchmaltwhisky.co.uk/managerchoice2ndrelease.htm
Not sure about the Malts website but the dates the whiskies went into the cask are in the press release, they are:
Blair Athol 1995
Cragganmore 1997
Dalwhinnie 1992
Dufftown 1997
Glen Spey 1996
Strathmill 1996
Talisker 1996
They were all bottled in 2009.

Cheers William
Still young whisky again considering the price. I personally couldnt justify paying that amount for these but i suppose the release wasnt aimed at me.

Dont get me wrong i would love to try these if i had the spare cash but my money will always be spent on the Diageo Special Releases which are a very good example of something different and special from the diageo owned distilleries. For example the Talisker 25 year old & 30 year old 2009 special releases are superb so i would have to hear some really good feedback about the Managers Choice Talisker before opting for it before a Special Release bottling of Talisker which are around £100 - £150 cheaper!

I have to say i have tried a few from the Diageo Special Releases over the past few years and always found them to be superb whiskies but i would be very warey about spending almost double what a special release costs on a younger whisky. Having said that i am sure the managers choice expressions are very good whiskies.
Charlie, i think the managers choice serious has been knocked so much it has drowned out any positive feedback there may have been on the series so i dont really know if it is out of this world, superb malt whisky or not. Shame really as i would have liked to have got some feedback on it.

I noticed that Oddbins have £20 -£30 off the first release bottlings of the Managers Choice series, maybe a sign that they cant shift them at the Diageo RRP.
