Bottles

I have been wondering for some time now why are whisky bottles so thick?

I know why wine bottles are thin and prosecco / champagne are so thick. But why do whisky bottles need to be so thick, dose anyone know?

Champagne and prosecco bottle thicknesses will be related to the pressure inside the bottle but i dont think this applys with whisky, most likely it is marketing/presentation that determines the thickness of any glass whisky bottle.

They did reduce the thickness of the glass for the likes of Johnnie Walker a few years ago.

I suppose those bottles are mean to last for a couple of months as well rather then wine which is cleared in a matter of hours in some households. Can you imagine?

Never mind the quality of the liquid. See the style and feel the weight of the bottle!

Got to be honest I thought I’d asked a silly question when I asked about all the different weights on the glencairn glasses hehe but DY that’s on you now hehe, but on the bottles weight and shape I do like the dumpy bottles like bunna and dalwhinnie .

See I do not think it is that silly as the average bottle I have been keeping track on weighs in at about 2kg I have found. I was just wondering if anyone had any reason why..
