|
|
Happy New Year everyone. I thought i would start the new year with a question which i am often asked and often pops up on whisky websites. If you were to name your own top 10 whiskies out of what you have personally tasted what would they be? We often hear what all the whisky writers/authors best whiskies are and we seem to be swamped with whisky awards but i thought it would be interesting to know what other members of the forum thought was good.
Here my top 10 whiskies in no paticular order:
1. Highland Park 18
2. Aberlour a'bunadh
3. Ardbeg Uigeadail
4. Ardbeg Supernova
5. Ardbeg Corryvreckan
6. Macallan 18
7. Ileach Cask Strength
8. Glenfarclas 21
9. Port Ellen 30 (Diageos Special Release)
10. Brora 30 (again Diageo Special Release)
Of course my top 10 whisky list can change almost daily but i just thoght it would be interesting to see what others thought would be exceptionally good and perhaps it will give me some whisky buying ideas for the coming year.

I dont really have a top 10 either but there have been a few real crackers mentioned above, some of which are not the most expensive and sometimes get over looked. Such as the Longrow CV or Balblair 1997. I was surprised how good Amruts whisky was, the Amrut CS and Fusion are worth a try if you havent tried them yet. All the Ardbegs mentioned above are excellent drams as is the sherried Aberlour a bunadh and Glenfarclas 15.

| I don't think I could come up with a top 10, but my favourite for a long time was Glenfarclas 21 year old. However, several years ago I bought a 40 year old Longmorn to open on my 40th birthday. I opened it last year and I have to say it's the best thing I have ever tasted that came from a whisky bottle. |
