White Horse Distillers Ltd.
b.1939
The Old Blend Whisky of the White Horse Cellar
By Appointment to The Late King George V
75cl 1
Nose
Not the most expressive but I do get pineapple and mango, very faint vanilla, melting candle wax, caramel waffles.
Taste
Better than the nose hinted at and a little fizzy, still on pineapple, faint lemon and lime, a little cream with hints of milk chocolate.
Finish
Medium length on a nice fruity fizziness
Bottled in 1939 so minimum distilled 1936 but I assume older whisky is in it so the oldest whisky I have tried, could be from the early 1930`s. (previously 1936 Mortlach was my oldest).
The bottle in the picture is the actual bottle tasted.
I have tried White Horse from the 50`s-80`s and the profile is similar and I recognise it as White Horse which surprised me.
It is great to get hold of an old blend like this, and yes it is pretty good. _________________ Pour me a glass please. |

Very interesting blast from the past. Sounds like one I would definitely enjoy. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."
