Nose
Really nice, you have the usual dark berry notes, dark plump raisins, dark treacle tart, faint hints of burnt rubber (in a good way, adding to the profile), blackcurrant and faintest liquorice hint.
Beautiful to be honest and even the colour, which is the darkest mahogany red colour looks nice,

Taste
Mouthfeel is excellent, thick, chewy and lip smacking, wow,
There are masses of dark fruit mixing with some peat with a little spice , the balance is world class.
As you would expect there is some wood influence but it adds to the overall picture.
It seems to get thicker and the battle between slightly bitter wood notes and the sweeter dark fruits is well, joyous to be honest,
Perfect balance, and I mean really perfect

Finish
Glorious, so tasty, whisky heaven

I am blown away by this one, most if the Strathmill I have tried has been 2nd/3rd fill sherry or bourbon cask and whole some were good, they were not like this.
In the last few years I have tried so called world beater sherry monsters of great age from the likes of Glenfarclas, Mortlach, Springbank, Longmorn, Glen Grant and I can say this is as good as them if not a notch better.
In summary one of the best sherried whiskIes I have tried but because it is from an unfashionable distillery , not that many people know about it.
Oh by the way all the oldest Macallans I have tried have not been this good so for a sherry monster H2H this will take some beating IMHO.
