Has anyone been collecting them here? Do you know how many this series will consist of.
Would like to try but rather spend my money on other drams... |

Over the last years I have gifted the Folio 4 and Folio 5 to my dad, so he might enjoy them or just keep them for a few years until retirement and maybe sell them, take the money and use it to fulfill one of his smaller dreams maybe.
I also thought about getting him the Folio 6 this year, but the whole process feels very, very messy.
I had no notification about the ballot being open. I was unable to see anything about the new release on themacallan.com. I only found out about the new release when the firt bottles hit ebay like 10 days ago. Then I found out you can only see this release and are able to enter the ballot when you switch the sites language to English (I am fron germany).
Also they mentioned that this limited release is only available through winning the ballot. But, as I mentioned, there where already bottles on ebay and other auction plattforms long before the ballot was closed. So there are definitely large amounts available through other channels....
Also I can not find any information on how "limited" this limited release actually is. A newsletter years back mentioned that the folio series will be around 2000 bottles each edition. However according to whiskybase the folio 5 is estimated to have around 3500 bottles.
You might buy this one just because it has great taste, but as a collector I think collectors should stay away from this since this series gets more and more dubious. |

| Folio 6 was on sale at the distillery a few weeks ago over a weekend. Obviously word got around and it sold out very quickly. |

Well having a certain quantity available at the distillery would not be a deal breaker for me.
But just a moment ago a user on reddit claimed that the folio 6 was available about 3 weeks ago, at his "local store".
I have sent him a reply as to what kind of store and location we are talking about.
I have also sent an inquiry to macallan, asking where the folio series is available nowadays except via online ballot and how many bottles they have released.
I have also entered the online ballot a few days ago and it closed on monday. I have not heared back from macallan so far. |

| To be fair the folio ballots seem to be the easier ballots to win compared to their exceptional casks. All in all, with a release of around 2000 bottles they maybe still quite common to buy in the secondary market. My question really is, are they worth it? |
