What are peoples thoughts on the Whiskybase?
Do you use it and what about the values? I have put some of my collection on there and some of the values it has for the bottles seem really high to me. |

Yeah values high, also convinced there will be plenty of counterfeits changing hands on there....
Other people on this forum have said they have used it with no issues though.

The values are based on the average price as advertised on Whiskybase and on shoplinks.
As a result they end up being a lot of nonsense. Typically skewed by one overambitious seller.

This is very true and very often you have the usual supects of shops who charge far too much and because of that, they are the only ones who have a bottle sell a bottle so that is what the price shown will be.
The other issues is that that in the last few years loads of bottle pushers have joined with a financial angle and very often put fake high rates on the system. To be fair WB Admin try very hard to sort this out, but whisky investors have ruined things in my view.
It is still by far the best source of whisky information out there though, and personally I do not understand why people generally are obsessed with value?
