Isle of Arran Distillers have revealed that they have laid down to mature a blend of their unpeated Arran and peated Lagg distilleries new make whisky spirit.
I'm a bit confused about Arran - they still call the whiskies from the original distillery 'Arran single malt', not 'Lochranza' yet this will be an Arran blend because it will comprise whisky from the new distillery as well. Unless they make some changes with the names you can count me confused.
I know what you mean, they refer to the distillery as Lochranza which to me is the distillery location. It clearly says Arran single malt whisky on the latest new style Arran whisky bottles. Why they need a different name for the whisky and the distillery is beyond me I am sure it does cause some confusion.
It is more the single malt from Lagg that I will be interested to try when it comes of age, but this blend should still be interesting although I would imagine that it will probably carry a collectable premium on its price tag when it is released.
Anyone who has added a little drop of peated to something else unpeated will know how a little goes a long way. Other than being a curiosity that will strike premium price it's hard to see how special this will be.
