Ok, I got another question..

I'm looking for something new, it has to be a mixture of bourbon and sherry with depth but without smoke / peat. So I assume it has to be aged for at least 15-18 years. I don't want the spirit to be light or flat. Smile

Have been looking into Dalmore but I don't think it will match.

Any clues?

Have a look at the Glengoyne 12, 18 and 21 year olds, you may also enjoy the Balvenie Doublewood whiskies

I second Brummie's suggestions, I'd definitely have a look at the Glengoyne range. Don't overlook the 12 year-old, it's delicious! (A major plus point for Glengoyne over Dalmore is that they never add artificial colouring to any of their malts)

The Glenfiddich 15 Solera also fits the bill, as do many others of course!

I'm looking into Bunna 12 and 18 atm, they say it's slightly peated as well.. that might be ok.

You rarely see it mentioned in their descriptions, but both these whiskies are what I would consider 'heavily sherried'. They're good of course (the 18 in particular), but if you're looking for a balance of bourbon and sherry maturation I doubt they'll fit the bill.

The 18 is aged exclusively in sherry casks, but it's very popular one.

I didn't think it was exclusively in sherry casks, so I checked their website. It says
35% 1st fill European oak ex-sherry
15% 1st fill American oak ex-sherry
50% refill casks

Now, it's unclear whether those refill casks are from sherry or bourbon, but I think it's bourbon since other expressions (like the 21 year-old) say 100% sherry. Either way, the fact that they're refill casks implies they're not particularly active.

And according to review-ers there are notes of vanilla, honey and caramel in it so it must be bourbon aged as well.

Thanks for clarifying.

Balblair 15, though a bit more than you want to spend?

My mate rates the tamnavulin double cask though its non-aged statement as a decent budget whisky.

Left field would be a sprinbank 12, not 15 years old but at cask strength it stands up to be counted.
