| I know quite a bit about wine but NOTHING about hard liquor. I wanted to get my husband a bottle of single malt scotch, something nicer than he would buy for himself. The local store had Glenmorangie 18 on "sale" for $95. But the only bottle they had left was from the older bottling, before the price was apparently jacked up by LVMH. Does anyone know what the price USED to be, say 3 or 4 years ago? I was wondering if I made a mistake paying the new price for the older bottle, which was presumably cheaper. Or is there any special interest in having the older bottling, since it is now unavailable? |

AFAIK it was only the presentation/packaging that changed with the Glenmorangie 18 year old. If you do a search for the Glenmorangie 18 at The Whisky Exchange shop the old and new presentations are both priced the same at £74.99, not sure how that converts to US$ (assuming you are in the USA) but at a glance $95 seems a very good price compared to what i would have to pay in Scotland.
The old presentation/packaging is now getting hard to find and may attract a slightly higher price in the near future. As far as the whisky is concerned it is a very nice whisky which i am sure any whisky drinker will enjoy.
Hope i have been of some help.
Merry Christmas
