Hi fellows!
So, today I was at a garage sale and bought some random bottles of liquor as a package. A few of them are Talisker 10yo bottles, of which I have two distinct labels. I looked on the internet and found that a regular bottle is worth around USD 45. Nonetheless, It appears that the bottles I have are actually from the 90s or 80s and some webpages quote them over USD 400. Are these whiskies really worth these amounts or is it nonesence? Would appreciate any guidance. I don't have the boxes, only the bottles themselves (don't know if thats relevant). Thanks in advance for any help and sorry if this wasn't the right place to put this.
Here are a few pictures of the bottles:

Here an ebay bottle with very high price:

The ebay bottle is a nonsense price wise, the best bottles and most desirable are perceived to be the pre classic malts bottles
Your first bottle is later and a classic malts bottle and looks like a 90`s bottle, your second one is from around 2000-2003 by the looks of it and has the stone label.
auctions are up & down and yes if you had the boxes they would fetch more. _________________ Pour me a glass please. |

The map-label bottle gets a little interest at auction, mainly so people can drink it and moan that the 10 is not as good as it used to be!
The sought after taliskers are pre distillery explosion distillates (so 1959 and prior), the very old berry brothers (earliest I've seen 1913), and the Gordan and McPhail 1955,56 and 57 cask strength 90's bottling (55 at least has minatures, 56 had a 35cl bottling). The odd bins exclusive 100 bottles (1973 28yr old) is also quite sought after, as are the old Cadenheads dumpy bottles (1957) _________________ Talisker 18 - the rest are just details |
