Glenmorangie has unveiled the 6th release in their Bond House No.1 vintage series, the Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1996, a 23 year old single malt whisky which has been matured solely in first fill ex-American Bourbon casks.
Like the previous 5 single malts in this collection you will need deep pockets if you want to taste it, it has a RRP of £635

Blimey!
That's a lot of money for not a lot of ABV? Not a lot of age either...
Neither guarantees quality obv but for £635 |

Totally agree, it is a liberty for a 23 year, but sadly this is the way things are going generally.
It would appear that it is priced in such a way (expensive) to guarantee that investors or collectors will be the only people who are interested in buying this.
I find it hard to believe that any drinker. would think a Glenmorangie generally was worth this price let alone a 23 year? _________________ Pour me a glass please. |

| I have had the pleasure of last years release the Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt1991 and it was superb, it was a friends bottle which I spent a evening dramming with him, it was not in my usual dramming price range but I couldn't fault it, a stunning dram. |

| I'm sure it's really good. I don't care much for all the finishes and wine casks Glenmorangie use, but bourbon matured Glenmorangie is beautiful. Pity about the price of course. |

I had the Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1989, 27 Year at a tasting in the past. Exceptionally good. I was even permitted to bring home the bottle with a little left in it. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

| I am a big fan of the Glenmorangie Astar and would love to have the spare change to try this. |
