|
|
I hope someone can help me. I recently come into possession of an old 1 litre bottle of Glenmorangie 10 year Single Highlands Malt Scotch Whiskey. Now I know NOTHING about whiskey but my partner enjoys a nice glass.
If this is worth something I'd quite like to give it to him as a Christmas present but the bottle gives nothing away, other then looking really old. There is no date on the bottle, nothing that even says the percentage. I have tried to do a bit of research, looking it up online, and there are bottles that look newer (with dates and volume on) that are anything from £50 to £300 but nothing the same as mine.
The only code or numbers are printed on the bottom of the bottle and they read:
1L (assuming 1 litre)
74mm
United Kingdom
L1
66
178
If this means anything to anyone or if you cad shed some light on maybe how old this is I would be very grateful! |

I believe the UK changed from using flozs to ml in 1980 so your bottle is probably from after then. Let us know exactly what it says on the label as this would help very much and if you had a pic that would be good.
Check and see if there is another code printed on the bottle. It will be very difficult to see, it is usually near the bottom of the bottle (not underneath on the base) and it would have been laser printed onto the glass. The code usually looks something like this: L7 256 21:15 4ML

Thanks for the reply. I've taken some photos but I'm not sure how to get them posted on here.
There is no other code on the bottle, except on the side of the bottle top there is: CB22.
I can't find a serial number or anything else printed on the label or bottle.
The label on the reverse of the bottle is upside-down (so I'm assuming it can be used on a pub optics).
The label reads the same on front and back:
GLENMORANGIE (red font)
10 YEARS OLD (black font)
SINGLE HIGHLAND MALT (red)
SCOTCH WHISKEY (black)
(then a blurred edge mono-tonal photo of the place I assume)
(then in smaller writing)
PRODUCE OF SCOTLAND (red)
DISTILLED BY (black)
THE GLENMORANGIE DISTILLERY COMPANY (red)
TAIN, ROSS-SHIRE ESTABLISHED 1843 (black)
BOTTLED IN SCOTLAND (red)
I hope this helps! |

Hi that same info is on pretty much most bottles of Glenmorangie.
The code that Bookie mentioned can be very hard to see, it should be etched on the glass near the bottom of the bottle.
A photo would perhaps help, to post a photo on here
