Hi i'm 21 and was wondering if some of you could help me out

I drink Whiskey occasionally and i'm looking to purchase a nice single malt to enjoy around Christmas time. I'm not looking to buy anything expensive, just a nice simple bottle from a supermarket in the UK. I dont know whiskey that well, just hoping someone can help me find a bottle that is good to enjoy for someone who doesnt drink whiskey all the time.

Hi Shane and welcome to the SMW forum

There is no better time of year to buy whisky than just before Christmas as there are so many great offers on really good whisky at this time of year.

I dont know which supermarkets are near you but as they all have different offers on different whiskies at the moment but a few which i would recommend to someone new to malt whisky are:

Highland Park 12 year old
Aberlour 10 year old
Old Pulteney 12 year old
Balvenie Doublewood 12 year old
All of these are normally around £30 to buy but you can find them in some supermarkets for around £20 or less at the moment.

Thanks for that! I have also been recommended Glenfiddich, and been told its pretty easy to get hold of

The Glenfiddich is a decent malt and a good starting place for someone new to malt whisky but i would say the whiskies Mckay mentioned are superior to the Glenfiddich 12. Highland Park is a very good place to start and it is the whisky i would always recomend to anyone new to malt whisky.
