|
|
To celebrate their 20th anniversary The Whisky Exchange is rolling back the years and having a ballot for a bottle of Ardbeg 1976 which was launched in 1999, the same year as the TWE website. The ballot winner will be able to purchase the bottle (Bottle No. 327 out of 497) for just £99 which is considerably less than todays shop price of £7500.
The Ballot is now open. To enter the ballot you will need to visit TWE and add the bottle to your basket then check out by entering your credit card details, then that's you in the ballot. Your card will not be charged unless you are the winner.
Visit https://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/ to enter and follow the link to the 20th Anniversary ballot. _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

Don't tell TWE this but they are selling it for the "original" price of £99, which is very kind of them, as taking inflation into account that price would now by £168.54 (to 2018).
so like for like, it's actually even cheaper than the original, in real terms - I do like a good bargain |

So you basically purchase this like any £99 whisky, but you only get charged if you win? Is that right?
I only ask because I clicked on Enter Ballot and was immediately hit with a "spend £1 more to qualify for free delivery" notice and it made me wonder if I could add another bottle of whisky and essentially get free delivery on that because my order is now £99+. I've never actually purchased from TWE before though, so I don't know if they ship bottles separately if one isn't in stock or do they wait for the entire order to be ready to ship? Coz I would assume if it's the latter then your order would be cancelled when you lose the ballot. |

| Yes you wont be charged unless you win. I would assume that it is their automated checkout system that is offering you free delivery if you spend another £1, I really couldn't say if you added something else to your basket what they would do about postage charges if you didn't win the ballot, to be fair the postage charges would be due if your order was under £100. |

| Yeah I thought it might be an interesting idea if someone wanted to experiment and order some minatures or something on the cheap and see if they wangled free shipping via entering, but I wasn't really that interested in purchasing anything so just entered the Ballot. I'm trying to be good and save up for Amazon's Black Friday period. |

The sad thing is that it will be shipped directly to the HQ of *insert auction site here* and sold in the next available auction.
If for any reason Fate makes me win the first raffle of my life, I will legitimately ask Ralfy to make a live stream in which we open the bottle and taste the juice together - and light up a symbolic pyre, to represent those £7.5k vanished into thin air. |

I would love to watch that as well, but if you look online at the Auctions they sell for about £2500-£2800
So if someone is willing to spend £7500 to save it they would be waiting a long time to recoup there money. |

What a problem to have do you make some money or tell yourself ,hey you got a world class bargain & crack it open.
A nice dilemma to have for sure, I applaud your reasoning, I would also like to watch that video, Bravo _________________ Pour me a glass please. |

Sorry, they haven't sent them out yet I don't think. It should be the part written in bold in your email:
| Quote: | It’s still our 20th anniversary though and, to celebrate, we’re sending everybody who entered the ballot a £5 e-gift card valid on any purchase from The Whisky Exchange website before 23:59 BST September 30 2019.
You’ll receive a separate email with your e-gift card shortly, so keep an eye on your inbox. |
That last line is not written in bold in the email btw. |
