My grandfather was in the RAF in WWII and enjoyed his single malts. When he passed he left me a bottle of 1980 Macallan Gran Reserva (bottled in 1999) in a nice wooden box. The great grandkids need some tuition money so I'm considering selling this bottle. I'm not an EBay fan so I thought I'd get some expert opinion on alternatives. Appreciate any wisdom from this group. Cheers.

You could try Bottle Spot - https://www.bottle-spot.com/classifieds/index.php although bear in mind that selling through this is entirely at your own risk.

I know Bonhams New York hosted specialist whisky auctions a few years ago but I am not sure if they do now. Given the potential value of the bottle it may be worth seeking out a specialist whisky auction or perhaps look into sending the bottle overseas to sell perhaps if you cant locate an auction on your side of the water it may be worth contacting the likes of Scotch Whiskiy Auctions to enquire whether you could arrange to send them the bottle to sell, here is some examples of recent auctions

Thanks for the suggestions. I may be heading to London soon, so maybe I'll bring it with me and try out one of the auction houses there.

Cheers,
