Meeting up with a friend next year some time and he’s stole my idea of the whisky I was going to take, the signet, two questions! How good is the signet? And what other glenmo can match or beat it for similer price or lower?

Glenmorangie do have a few cracking whiskies, I can highly recommend the Glenmorangie 18, Astar 2017 and the Glenmorangie Allta Private Edition which happens to be £63.95 in a flash sale at Master of Malt at the moment see the flash sale link on the left of this page.

The Signet is good and the 3 Glenmo's Forbes suggests are equally as good and and considerably cheaper than Signet and you could almost pick up a couple of bottles for around the same price as the Signet. Just depends on your personal taste preferences which whisky is better.

I met with the inventor of the Glenmorangie Signet earlier this year, Dr. Bill Lumsden.
I personally rate this whisky very high indeed. Unique in many ways, it really satisfies. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

I have to say if I had to spend 60-80 quid on a bottle, I'd go with something with more personality than a Glenmo, though the ones mentioned below are never wrong choices.
The Signet, on the other hand, is something fairly unique that it's in my mind well worth trying - more than once. Some people really dislike it and I can see why, as it's REALLY peculiar, but I love it.
I do hope in the future more distillers will be more experimental with flavors (like actually experimental, not 4 months finishes...), including but not limited to chocolate barley juice.
Leaving super rare and super old Glenmo aside (mostly because I've never tried one lol) , I'd say it's the best one I've tried, the Companta being a close second. |

The Signet really is deliciously enjoyable and easy drinking for me but personally I would take a bottle of the Astar or Allta mentioned before the Signet.

Glenmorangie Allta is incredibly flavourful, in terms of bang for your buck imo it beats out the Signet, but the Signet really is a beautiful dram if you love drinks like coffee and stout because you just get that really fascinating development on the finish of it.
