| Recieved an email today from Highland Park today inviting me to enter a ballot for another limited edition bottle. A 26 year old in collaboration with a photographer. Then I saw the price. £500. Wow! No mention of the number of bottles but still way overpriced for me. |

| Sadly and increasingly this seems to be the going rate for this kind of aged whisky releases. |

Its sad to see Highland Park changing (or shall I say chasing their EdringtonGroup bud Macallan), I used to think they were a decent malt. However, I completly lost interest in them, and even when I come accros them now, they just taste *. |

These auctions are supposed to give everyone a chance to get them but in reality they are a marketing ploy nothing more to drum up interest and to give the air of exclusivity.
If there were no ballots I bet some of them would not actually sell that quickly.
I think it is a load of * personally, if you cannot get one this time there will be more to come that is for sure, they are churning these ballots out regular, why bother, most of the time the whisky is not that good, look at some of the reviews that the oh so exclusive Macallan actually get. _________________ Pour me a glass please. |

Thats probably their greatest fear, someone actually opening and drinking the bottle, but then again, who in their sane mind would |

Got an email there offering an opportunity to buy one of these after initially being unsuccessful in the ballot. Is this type of bottle a worthy investment? It certainly wouldn't be an opener for me? Is this a marketing gimmick? £500 seems quite excessive. Thoughts? _________________ A Dram a day keeps the wife at bay! |

| I just find it adorable they now have to sell the bottles because either no one entered the ballot or the winners simply didnt want it. 500 pounds for a 26 year old 40% whisky is quite a lot yes. |

| I realise £500 sounds a lot - but considering that HP 25 years retails for £400, an extra £100 for a limited edition, with some good packaging etc - doesn't seem that high a price tbh. Though I admit this will be more collector item rather than for consumption at that kind of price. |

Everything is either a limited release or a special release, it is a much over used phrase where whisky is concerned. _________________ Pour me a glass please. |
