Lagg Distillery Now In Production

Distillation has began at the Lagg Distillery on the Isle of Arran where the first middle cut of spirit was recorded on Tuesday 19th March. Following this, the commissioning phase has now been completed and Lagg Cask Number One was filled with a heavily-peated 50ppm spirit on Wednesday 10th April. The new distillery is expected to open to visitors in the early summer of this year.

There is always room for another peaty single malt in my cupboard, it will probably be 4 or 5 years before we know how good Lagg is going to be, hopefully it will be good competition (taste and price wise) for the big peaty Islay whiskies.
