Hi there, newby posting for the first time.
Really enjoying browsing through the forum the last few days since joining.
Anyway,.....I have been looking through some bottles I've collected over the years of single malts.
I seem to remember that I was advised to purchase some Bladnoch malt lowland malt whisky bottled by Gordon and MacPhail wrongly labelled as a Highland malt. It is a connoisseurs choice 13 year old distilled in 1975. The bottles are 75cl as they were bottled before the change to 70cl.
At the time I bought a case of 6 bottles and gave my father 3 of them,.....which he drank. So I'm left with the other 3.
I'm interested to know if there is any value in wrongly labelled malts to collectors? Or will they just be valued as if they were properly labelled?
Thanks in advance for any knowledgeable replies.

Green Welly Stop currently 'offering' one for £350.
As to what you would get for it at auction, that's anyone's guess. |

Thanks for that info.
It's more out of curiosity that I'm interested.
Don't really intend selling,....in the near future anyway, that can change though, lol.
I started putting away bottles for the kids benefit in future years.
Thought it was unique having wrongly labelled bottles and was just wondering if that added value (like stamps, bank notes, etc). Or whether it would actually decrease the value.
I appreciate you replying to my post. |

I imagine it won't affect the value. In this case it will be the quality of the juice in the bottle and the vintage.
If it was a misprinted distillery bottle, that was later rectified or something then that would be something unusual for a collector. But not on an independent bottling. |
