Hi, this is my first time posting. I was hoping someone might be able to help me identify what precisely I have found. Back in 1977, my mother was visiting Scottland during the offseason. She ended up getting put up by the locals in a closed B&B that turned out to be connected to the Benromach distillery. As a parting gift, they gave her a small gift. She can't remember too much more about the trip so I'm not sure how to go about identifying or appraising what she's had tucked in the hidden recesses of her closet for decades now.
Any ideas? Do I have a true treasure or just a nice story? Where might I find out more?

| It looks like a sample bottle containing Benromach whisky, unfortunately there doesn't appear to be anything on the bottle to identify its age, type of cask or strength but given the darkness of the whisky I would guess it is from a sherry cask |

It is a nice story for sure but you have no idea of age or specifically from single cask or a vatting of benromach casks.
It could be 3 years old it could be 12, open it and drink it, that whisky has sat since 1977, it could be wonderful, give it a go
It is certainly worth far more in enjoyment terms that money. _________________ Pour me a glass please. |

Without sounded like Captain Obvious, but have you tried getting in touch with the distillery?
Regardless of what is in the bottle, it is definitely a nice story that you've shared with us. |
