Hello folks

My first post and very happy to be bere! Just a little about myself before I ask for advice Smile
From Dublin, Ireland and only recently got serious about whisk(e)y the last year or so. Prior to that it was just easy drinking Irish and Bourbon before I got the taste for scotch (lagavulin 16 did it for me). My current favourites from my limited experience include lag 16, talisker 10, glenmorangie 10, redbreast, midleton very rare amongst others.

So Glengoyne 25 yo has been on my wishlist for christmas. I did get to try the 21 yo which was lovely. But the 25yo is proving impossible to get my hands on. Could you recommend a whisky around that price point that you feel is as good or better than the glengoyne. Im kind of leaning toward a sherry influence but it doesn't necessarily have to be. So yeah, thanks for reading and looking forward to contributions from the folk on here.

I can find the glengoyne 25 in loads of places. First, and most obvious perhaps, is the glengoyne website! But there are lots of other places in the UK- Amazon, royal mile whiskies, etc. All around £250. The only whisky shop I know in Dublin is Celtic whisky and they also have it in stock, if a little more expensive.

Alternatives for £250 - there are so many! At the moment of be tempted by a bruichladdich 1990/25 as it is full term sherry and I've heard great things. Maybe a springbank 21 - it's a classic. But your choices are endless!

The one in celtic whiskey is out of stock! I know because i purchased it on Saturday online and they got back today apologising profusely as it's out of stock but they forgot to remove it. Amazon won't deliver alcohol products to Ireland. I have used Master of Malt and Whiskey exchange...both very good to deal with but not in stock in either. I'll get in touch with the distillery. Thanks.

That's frustrating! Here's an answer Then, RMW will definitely ship to Ireland. £250 + £16 delivery.

I went ahead and ordered it when I saw your previous mention of the RMW, never heard of that particular place before. All in for just a shade over €300 compared to €340 from celtic whiskey!

Hi there,

Congratulations on getting your purchase. If you can hunt around and pick up a glendronach 21 and an ancnoc 22 and try them alongside I’d be interested in coming round... Laughing

Whilst the glengoyne is awesome I struggle with the pricing. But hey, I’m tight.

I found Celtic Whiskey very pricey for Scotch when I visited. Definitely better deals to be had online.

Yep, completely agree. They are very expensive indeed and only when stuck would I buy from them.
