The Balvenie DoubleWood 25 Year Old 25th Anniversary Edition is a new limited release to mark 25 years since The Balvenie distillery first released the DoubleWood 12 year old, back in 1993. With around 3,600 bottles available worldwide I don't think this will be on the shelves for long.

The 25 year olds release is just part of a year of celebration for the Dufftown distillery, marking the 25th anniversary of DoubleWood, look out for special limited-edition redesign of The Balvenie 12 Year Old DoubleWood bottlings which will be presented in special 25th Anniversary packaging, although it is still the now classic whisky DoubleWood whisky in the bottle.

Not too bad a price considering the Balvenie 25 Triple Cask is Â£425 at the airport and that is an ongoing part of the travel retail range, I am sure they will sell 3600 worldwide pretty quickly, tempted myself.

Is that the DoubleWood 25 Year Old 25th Anniversary Edition? it dose not say anywhere on it... or am I just missing it?

There is no doublewood at this age. This 25year old doublewood has been crafted and released to celebrate 25 years since the release of 12 year old doublewood.

Just the very point, it is 25 year old doublewood is all you need to know to mark it as the special edition.

Speaking with Balvenie's David Stewart earlier in the year confirms this as a limited release. It's his baby, and as soon as he mentioned this, I knew i wanted one.
