|
|
Glenallachie has unveiled a new core range comprising of four single malt whiskies, a Glenallachie 10 Year Old Cask Strength, 12, 18 and 25 Year Old
They haven't revealed the type of cask the 18 year old has matured in but the 10, 12 and 25 all have a Pedro Ximinez, and Oloroso cask influence in common.
More info on the new Glenallachie line up here;

| William it will be interesting to see if these are any good, as you say in your article Pernod Ricard never really rated it as good enough for a single malt. I will be interested to read the reviews but they do seem to be very confident as Master of Malt are limiting it to one bottle per customer, or perhaps that is a marketing strategy to imply it is sought after and worth buying? https://www.masterofmalt.com/distilleries/glenallachie-whisky-distillery/ |

| A good friend who's palate I would trust had the chance to taste the Glenallachie 10 CS and 12 year old at a whisky event recently and told me he was a bit underwhelmed with them although he did say they were sampled in a hot crowded hall and his palate wasn't fresh when he tried them and he wouldn't write them off until he had a chance to taste them again. |

This is like a rolling bandwagon at the moment get some new fancy livery, re invent a core range and increase prices, 12 year at £43 (for now anyway)
In 2 years time there will be no 10+ year old under £50, Ardbeg 10 is now £50 in the UK
‘The first release of our GlenAllachie core range has been a culmination of months of hard work and a passion to turn GlenAllachie into a very popular and much sought-after single malt whisky,’ said Walker.
Nice of them to use the word passion, the only passion they have is to squeeze the udders of the cash cow a little more _________________ Pour me a glass please. |

lincoln imp I assume you got that quote elsewhere or perhaps you spoke to Billy Walker directly as I couldn't see it in Williams piece on the new Glenallachie range.
I agree it does look like you wont find a 10+ year old under £50 pretty soon. |

I have a 1998 Sherry cask 986 from their new owners release, aka 50th Anniversary bottling.
Also the 12 year old, 58.9% ABV 2018 Spirit of Speyside bottling,
Paid decent cash for both. Not sure £56 for 500ml 12 year old was value for money, its alright but in a way glad its only 500ml, sooner gone but better whiskies out there in this price range.
Totally get the feeling of profitability is more important than product, eg the earlier products were all rushed to bottling (no packaging) high price, limited to get punters interested in a gamble of relatively untested drams.
I'll wait for these at reduced prices or auction.
Saying this, Morrisons had the GlenAllachie Distillery Edition for £15, yet to taste this one but comes from the previous owners. |

| Glenallachie distillery edition was still £15 in Edinburgh Morrisons today. Not seen it south of the border. |
