Fettercairn Distillery owners Whyte & Mackay has announced that they are relaunching the Fettercairn single malt with the release of four new single malt whiskies.

The no age statement Fettercairn Fasque and Fior which were released back in 2010 are now discontinued and have been replaced by the new Fettercairn 12 Year Old, followed by quite a step up in years to the Fettercairn 28 Year Old then the Fettercairn 40 Year Old and sitting at the top of the new range is the Fettercairn 50 Year Old which will retail at RSP £10,000.

Are you sure it was only a couple, your posting in the wrong place I think Smile

I was never overwhelmed with the Fettercairn Fasque or Fior both were easily drinkable but priced above their quality so hopefully the new Fettercairn 12 is worth its £48 price tag. The others are not priced for me to drink but good luck to those who can afford them.

Embarassed Laughing it does look like I was enjoying more than I was letting on, I had work to get up for so I was definitely only having a couple. I think I must have had two pages open at the same time when browsing and clicked reply in the wrong post. Tiredness is my excuse nothing to do with the whisky.

Fettercairn is worth a visit just to see the unusual purifying cooling rings on the still neck, I visited a few years ago without knowing about the cooling rings and was pleasantly surprised to find something different in the production process as I was of the mind once you have seen one distillery you have seen them all and visiting numerous distilleries is more to get hold of distillery exclusive bottlings as the process is much the same.

I found the Fettercairn Fior an OK dram, I couldn't fault it, it was a pleasant enough whisky with some nice fruit and spice but never made it to my regular tipple list, hopefully the 12 year old will be something worth buying more than once. There is certainly still room for an 18 or 21 year old at a drinkable price.
