Has William (or anyone else) posted news about Mortlach relaunching their range?

https://scotchwhisky.com/magazine/latest-news/19998/mortlach-relaunches-malts-after-backlash/

"Diageo is relaunching its Mortlach range of single malts, and reintroducing a 16-year-old expression, after admitting its previous range ‘disappointed’ whisky fans."

I find it amusing how even their admission of guilt (especially with regards to pricing and smaller bottle sizes) comes with a somewhat defensive attitude: "Whilst every whisky we have launched from Mortlach has always been welcomed and indeed won awards, it was felt that we needed to listen and review our position." Very Happy

There is a better piece here on the new Mortlach whisky range which I assume William posted http://www.scotchmaltwhisky.co.uk/mortlachwhiskyrangerelaunched.htm

scotchwhisky.com is a nice shiny website but funded by the folks behind The Whisky Exchange and there is no doubt that its purpose is to promote and sell whisky no matter what it is or the price, in fact the higher the price the more profit for the folks behind the site.

They are still steep with the prices, I may try the 12 but will have to hear that the 16 is very good before paying £80 for a core range 16 year old. £200 for a core range 20 year old is almost as mad as £600 for the 25 year old they have discontinued. I don't think they have listened too closely to whisky drinkers.

True - not sure who they think they are, really. I don't mean this in an offensive way, but even much bigger 'brands' among 'casual' whisky buyers, like Lagavulin and Macallan, are more sensibly priced.

Going by this and other recent releases it does look like the industry is now repositioning the price point of a 10 - 12 year old whisky at around £50, 16 year old around £80 and 18 £100+ and over 18 prices are going insane but I guess that is supply and demand for you.

I am not impressed with the prices but it does look like they are not too out of line with others. I will probably give the 12 a go as I did like Mortlach in the past but I will be the same as Whisky Rogue, I will await some feedback on the new Mortlach 16.
