Has this been officially discontinued please?
I'm guessing 'yes', as it would seem to have all but disappeared at retail. Also, it wouldn't sit well alongside the new Glenmorangie Vintage 1990 at twice the price.

Well, it still appears on Glenmorangie's web site, which suggests that they don't think they've discontinued it. Of course, the web site might be out of date. There's a 'contact us' link at the bottom of the page. You could use that to ask the distillery directly.
On the other hand, Amazon UK have Marketplace sellers offering it at between £550 and £600 a bottle, so I guess that means that they think they can get people to pay that sort of money. I'm not sure what it was going for in the past, but that looks like silly money to me.
(I won't pay that much - I can't afford it for one bottle of whisky. And I have difficulty believing that it would be worth it even if I could afford it. Would I really enjoy it 20 times as much as the 'ordinary' Glenmorangie? I'm sure that the law of diminishing returns must be very relevant here.) |

| I would guess that the 25 is gone given the appearance of the Glenmorangie Vintage 1990. |

I think that "Quarter Century" 25 year old (which came in a 'gold' box the size and weight of a family fridge) retailed for £245-£270.
In sharp contrast, the new "Grand Vintage 1990" 25yo seems to be £450-£500.
So, pretty much the same stuff in the bottle but for upwards of twice the price. |

Original price was £199 with first few hundred bottles including entry to a competition to win a bottle from a cask just laid down in 25 years.
I have the certificate in my safe for when I retire _________________ Talisker 18 - the rest are just details |

| I bought a bottle of Glenmorangie 25 Quarter Century two weeks ago in North Carolina (USA). I was surprised to see it in my state run ABC (Alcoholic Beverage Control) Store. Our choices are very limited. |

I ended up with 2 shares (long story) when buying a bottle but have visited every year and sit on the cask. The cask has a nice brass end with the "Generations of Wisdom" attached to it now.

| Tain also confirmed that Grant Vintage won't be part of the core range. Once each expression is gone, it is gone. |

Hey
I also have a few bottles of glenmorangie quarter century. Can someone explain to me how it is possible that there are no numbers on one bottle and numbers on another. There is also a date in this number: 15/01/2015. How can this date be stated when the bottle is bottled in 2007?

Thanks for the update - may have to get a visit in for a cask selfie too! _________________ Talisker 18 - the rest are just details |
