Hi all. I've got a 70cl bottle of Blair Athol 27 year old Single malt, distilled in 1975.
Natural Cask Strength
54.7%vol 70cl
Limited Edition
Rare Malts Selection.
Looking in excess of £500 for this bottle and wondering what all your thoughts were.
Selling as I originally bought two of these bottles from the distillery in 2008, drank one of them (amazing!) and aimed to always sell this one.
Two bottles of this sold in 2017 for £525 in auction, and neither box were in as good a condition as this one.

Your best bet is to sell at auction. Just checked your bottle out and you're right with December 2017 auction hammer pice, but could also be worth as much as eg £273 (August 2017 auction)
How much did you buy for, out of interest. |

Hi the price you state of £525 is what I would refer to as an auction spike on 4/12/17 as 2 weeks later the exact same bottle with same fill level went for only £301 on Just whisky auction.
on 4/3/18 less than 2 months ago it went for £380 at SWA so you need to lower your expectations as this is no more than a £350 in reality.
On the SWA auction right now there are 2 bottles one has a reserve of £380 and the other no reserve so you will get a much better idea of the bottles true worth in a weeks time.
Hope this helps?
Edit 18/5
The bottle with no reserve went for £320, the bottle with a reserve failed to sell. _________________ Pour me a glass please. |
