Might be of interest to some..
Billy Walker, previously of BenRiach (and indeed GlenDronach), the Master Distiller who last year led the purchase of The GlenAllachie Distillery near Aberlour in Speyside, has released a special bottling of limited edition whiskies as his first product launch from the site after examining casks of world-class Scotch in its warehouses.
Having sampled an extensive selection of the distillery’s 40,000 casks, Mr Walker has identified six casks that have been bottled to mark the 50th anniversary of the distillery’s maiden production run on February 17th 1968.
Over 3,500 50cl bottles have been filled as special edition single cask whiskies; 720 for the UK, 2,391 for General Export and 425 for Taiwan – all bottled at cask strength,
GlenAllachie 1978, 39 Years Old, Cask #10296, £695
GlenAllachie 1989, 28 Years Old, Cask #986, £235
GlenAllachie 1989, 28 Years Old, Cask #2587, £235
GlenAllachie 1990, 27 Years Old, Cask #2515, £215
GlenAllachie 1990, 27 Years Old, Cask #2517, £215
GlenAllachie 1991, 26 Years Old, Cask #100285, £199

I have only had younger Glenallachie in the past, it was ok but nothing to shout about. I would need to hear good things about these before parting with significant amounts of money but I am sure plenty of whisky drinkers will trust Billy Walkers past track record for picking out something which is particularly good.
Any info on the types of cask? |

| Out of interest what number of bottles are stated on the label of your 986 and 2517? Think they are numbered for Regional release and not total numbers. |

Good luck finding any in retailers - it's been quite a slog to get those 2. I've not cracked either open yet as I'm enjoying the Old Particular first. Reviews seem torn between high praise and over-wooded so I guess it would come down to your flavour profile preference. _________________ Inverness Whisky

Had the opportunity to buy the compleye set, but wasnt interested.
Opted for 1 bottle.
Picked up my 1989, 28 Years Old, Cask #986 yesterday.
Such a mistake not having some form of box/package for the Golden anniversary limited edition bottle. |

| I did exactly the same - bought cask 986. Broomie gave it a decent rating. Also disappointed with the lack of box. |
