Looking For Lightly Peated Scotch

I've recently taken the plunge into the delicious world of single malt scotch and I have no regrets! My bank account isnt too pleased, but nobody asked him! I've tried a wide array of scotch from Speyside to Islay. I do love me some floral Speysides but i've been trying to branch out into the peated arena. I purchased two bottles in the past month: Ardbeg 10 and Bunnahabhain 12. The Ardbeg will likely collect some dust until I find a peat loving malt mate to come drink it or until my palate matures a bit. It's just too smokey and reminds me of the formaldehyde used to preserve the dead animals we dissected in high school. The Bunnahabhain on the other hand is absolute gold! I love it! Prior to that, the only "smoked" scotch i enjoyed was the Highland Park Magnus (Also very tasty). I am looking for something similar to the Bunna 12 in terms of extremely light peat with sweet undertones. I also tried the Highland Park 12 and it just didnt do it for me. Any recommendations would be much appreciated. Cheers!

Just a small piece of advice, don't ever say no forever to a single malt. You can end up loving it like hell after a number of years. I can assure you

The first lightly peated single malt I tried was the Jura Superstition. That was at my very first journey with Single Malts. Just after trying it for the first time, I said to myself, what on earth I've bought! It's disgusting!! After a few years more in that journey educating my palate, I love every kind of malts, peated or unpeated.

I agree with rainbow, never say never, everytime I tried a smoked whisky I really struggled, but 3 years in I've ventured and enjoyed them, I recently tried ledaig 10 and loved the stuff, on the light peat whisky ardmore do a nas whisky which might ease you in, or you could try jw black label and green which has enough smoke for you to learn oh and bowmore small batch will ease you slowly.

I will 2nd the anCnoc Peatheart recommendation, an excellent lightly peated whisky. I will add the Balvenie Peat Week 14 year old to the suggestions.

Have you tried the Glenlivet Nadurra Peated Whisky Cask Finish, being a peated cask finish it only has a very light touch of peat so it may be ideal for you, it is cask strength so it may require a drop of water if you are not used to whisky bottled at high strength.
