Hi everyone,
I have the possibility to buy a Mortlach 70 year old 1938 - 2008 20 cl.
The problem however is that the seal has been broken. the seller says he has bought the bottle in 2008 and has never opened it. He said that the seal has probably been broken due to the silver stopper which has expanded due to climate conditions. The color of the whisky and the fill level seem correct.
My questions:
- Would it be possible that the Silver stopper has expanded causing the seal to break?
What do you think is the value of this bottle with its seal broken?
it would be possible I guess, but the quality of stopper and seal would have been high quality for a bottle like this and if I had bought it and this happened I would have been contacting the producer as the broken seal has probably wiped out the value of the bottle.
If you intend to buy it for drinking and you know and trust the seller as Whisky Chaser says then you should be able to pick yourself up a bargain.
